Sarah Palin is kicking off the New Year with a bang on social media.

The former Republican Vice Presidential Candidate and half-term governor of Alaska took to her Facebook page Thursday morning to issue a bizarre New Years message as only Mrs. Palin can. Apparently, Palin believes that allowing a six year old child to use the family pet as a stepping stool is an apt metaphor for overcoming lifes obstacles:

Happy New Year! May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for up!, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.

Well, at least shes finally realizing that shes oblivious…

Is it just me, or does the whole lazy dog blocking his way line seem a bit Ayn Randian? Like the dogs lack of gumption somehow makes it morally justifiable for a more motivated being to walk all over it? Call me crazy, but if I saw my handicapped child climbing on the family pet like it was some kind of household tool, Id intervene for both the childs well being and that of the animal. But not our Sarah, she went right for the camera so she could post the scene on social media.

Of course, if the dog all of the sudden decided he no longer felt like being employed as a stepping stool, the poor child would be in danger of hitting his head on the counter.

Predictably, Palin will offer no shortage of head-scratching moments on social media in 2015 she never does, but this peculiar spectacle is as odd a beginning to a new year as Ive seen. And needless to say, the reaction on Palins Facebook page was less than supportive:

Well, if he fell and hit his head, it may be like the proverbial screwdriver in a watch: it may actually fix something and make it work better.

      • TaTaTamiHolloway

So disrespectful to talk like that about a handicapped child, or adult for that matter. This is an ugly post!

        • Ed White

By handicapped adult we ARE talking about Mrs. Palin, right?

          • tomaf

yeah, no more making fun of Sarah.

        • tomaf

Yeah, Im terrible. But he *is* a Palin.

          • Robert

I hope you die a quick and slow death…..

        • Frank Herner

Then again, it would actually be beneficial. We wouldnt have to deal with another generation of her retarded family…

          • Robert

You should have been killed at birth!

          • Beth Stubblefield

Well then on that note Frank, hopefully your own family gene pool is dried up…? Im not a fan of Sarah Palin by any means whatsoever. But I abhor the use of the word retard, or any version of it to describe a persons mental health. GROW UP!

            • tomaf

political correctness run amok. Its a word that best describes people of certain mental facilities, like Sarah Palin and her grandchild trog (short for troglodyte?). I wont let religion or political correctness limit my right to free speach and free expesssion.

            • Tony Thompson

              Sigh.
Political correctness is nothing more than the desire on the part of many to choose language that doesnt unintentionally harm others. Its not about forcing anyone to speak or express themselves in a certain way. Nor is it about limiting the speech of others. Its about educating others and *requesting* that they use language that isnt hurtful to those who have a history of being shat upon. Thats why people request that others dont refer to gay people as f*ggots, black people as n*ggers, trans people as tr*nnies, women as sl*ts, people with disabilities as r*tards, and so forth. If your response to requests that you choose to moderate your own language out of respect for others is to express derision at such an idea, then youre not a nice person. And people are going to call you out for it. See thats the thing about people who complain about political correctness run amok. What theyre receiving is backlash. In the bygone days, they didnt receive backlash. Those uppity black folk? They knew not to challenge the use of n*gger. Those f*ggots didnt dare come out of the closet and criticize anyone for using dehumanizing language. The people who so often complain about PC are the ones who dont like being criticized for what they say. To them I say: tough luck. If you dont want the criticism, then keep your trap shut. Otherwise, youre going to get called out for it. As well you should.

          • Tony Thompson

Thats such a vile, hateful thing to say. Why are you so full of disdain and contempt for people with mental disabilities?

            • Frank Herner

In fact, Im not. I have some of my own mental disabilities, thank you very much. As a matter of fact, my own Immune System attacked my own brain, causing swelling and inflammation of the Limbic area, the area of the brain that controls memory and emotions. Ive had 13 Epileptic Seizures, and almost died from them. When my brain was attacked, it caused emotional control to be defective. Diagnoses included Bipolar, Anxiety, Depression (2 serious/deadly suicidal attempts) ADHD, partially OCD, anger issues, and i take 15 pills a day. I will admit what I said was harsh, but, maybe some people just need to learn to accept the truth!

      • Fanraeth

Down Syndrome isnt going to be fixed by a child hitting their head. Sarah Palin is a psycho, theres no need to stoop to her level when speaking of her permanently disabled child.

        • tomaf

Anything is possible with jesus. ;-P

          • Thack

            Who?

          • Robert

How can you say anything about Jesus after the sick sh*t you just said?

            • Jen

What would Jesus do? Well he wouldnt say, to quote you, Robert… I hope you die a quick and slow death….. Jesus Christ, Robert!

            • tomaf

Jesus is a big pile of diseased shit, so there is no contradiction with what i wrote

      • Robert

        Your simple an azz

    • Ty Ellison

She has finally proven to her followers that shes a carrier and trafficker of weapons-grade stupidity.

      • Tony Thompson

        Im so stealing that!

    • toma kay

      Its called para-salin

    • silentpurr

Sarah, when the dog develops spinal problems will you kindly put him down?

      • Robert

This dog can carry up to I dont know how much weight and your talking about a 30 pound kid giving this dog a spinal injury? Lady pull your lip over your head and swallow!

    • Thack

If she gets too much bad press, she might quit her job as head of the Palin family.

    • Robert

Man like really! Ok lets Michael Vick her because a child was standing on the dog! Some of you people have to be the most ignorant humans on earth. You take something so precious and cute and turn it into something so meaningless. This is a beautiful child that was simply trying to help out, now I do see maybe yeah the dog couldve moved and the child could possibly hit his head. But I think the dog has more sense than a lot of you so he wouldnt move. Sarah Palin I am not at all a fan of you nor do I know anything about you but give you all the sympathy in the world at a time like this! You people should be ashamed of yourselves!

      • Jen

She mentions in the post that the child did this because attempts by the child to get the attention of the adults were ignored. This is called neglect, stupidity, animal abuse and narcissism.

      • Tony Thompson

Ah, so you see no problem with her allowing her child to stand on a dog. Gotcha. Please stay away from anyones pets.

    • Scott Knowles

Funny, no outrage when Ellen posted pretty much the same thing. I shudder to think all those protesting might be hypocrites, but…

      • Brenda Smith

I didnt see that but yes it was wrong for her to do it too. People who think it is cute to abuse animals need to be put in a jail cell. Also regardless of what you might think of Sarah Palin, it isnt right in any sense to talk a lot of garbage about a disabled child. I really dont have a strong opinion about her one way or the other.

        • Scott Knowles

Well, the Ellen one got huge views, only positive comments (How cute, great dog, the dog really loves its child, etc). Why the difference?

As for the dog, been around them all my life, they get worse from their own pups and can handle the weight quite well. No matter how well behaved, if it hurt it would have shifted or moved. Do I like it? Well, IMO, it is up to the owner and the dog, who both usually have good ideas of what they can do.

    • marcw52

Ok here is a great chance to demonstrate the mind numbing liberal hypocrisy that is on display here. When this happened to Ellen DeGeneres dog, it was called cute and adorable.

    • Tony Thompson

I thought you were smarter than that

      Snorfle!

    • Tony Thompson

Or, contrary to your very narrow thinking here, this is an example of how thoughtless Sarah Palin is about other living creatures. Something she demonstrates quite frequently. Is it not ok to criticize her thoughtless actions when it involves animals?

      • ryan

Sure, its perfectly fine to criticize her thoughtless actions.
The problem, in my view, is that this doesnt really look like one of those instances. It looks more like a bunch of whiners reading way too deeply into an image looking for something stupid to bitch about because they hate Palin.

Im no Palin fan. Shes a self serving barnacle but this is just stupid, petty, drama-queen nonsense.

    • Tony Thompson

      Im thinking NO.
